Some time ago, Chet Weise comissioned Elliot McPherson (email) of Mcpherson Fine Woodcraft and the incredible RNR band THE DEXATEENS to hand make one 2 x 12 guitar cab and one 1 x 15 organ cab. Chet asked for the cabs to meet certain dimensions to allow them to be packed in the back of the ilck3 Chevy AstroVAn; he also requested the cabs have wheels and be able to lean back to allow for better volume to the musician's ear on stage. Most of all, Chet asked for Elliot to fashion cabs as pleasing to the eye as to the ear, "artistic" if you will. Chet felt a troublesome irony exists when musicians play their hearts out creating music while using the overpriced and extremely stale looking/feeling speaker cabinets provided by today's companies (of course there are a few exceptions).

The cabs are quarter sawn and flatsawn red oak. the joinery on the outer shells is mortise and tennon construction(old school as hell and totally strong construction method). The finish is lacquer conversion varnish with a hand rubbed finish.(lots of elbow grease to achieve a sheen crossed between a satin and a semi gloss look) the moldings ( check out the feet, the top band around the lid) were run in Elliot's shop and cut from custom made knives who's profiles are exclusive to Mcpherson Fine Woodcraft. The guitar cabinet holds two 12 inch Private Jack Red Fang speakers. The organ cabinet hold one 15 inch Peavey Black Widow. Check out the pictures below to see how Elliot achieved beyond all said goals.
